Well, the House just passed a law allowing weapons in one's home in D.C. Unlike last year when the House passed a similar measure, the Senate actually has a large number of sponsors and probably the votes necessary to pass this in 2005. Is this a good thing?

    I don't know.

There is a lawsuit winding its way through the DC courts (currently on appeal) asking the very limited question of whether the Second Amendment protects the right to do just what this law says would be legal if it passes. A cynical person might think this bill was passed simply to keep the courts from declaring such an individual right. A pessimistic person might think this bill was passed to keep the courts from declaring there is no such right.

I don't know what to think.

Here is a link to a news story on the bill.
