Taler, these lawyers are accountable to the same electorate that watches TV footage of the mayor with the nose candy and the hos, then promply re-elect him. Surely you are not surprised.

I will offer my paraphrase of the en banc petition:

We here in the DC government would like to stubbornly press onward with our unconstitutional experiment. We realize that it isn't working. We, too, are afraid to go out a night. That being said, we have been making stupid laws for over 30 years now and would really like for you to butt out, notwithstanding that pesky 2nd amendment.
