How about a getup like this? I'm thinking strongly about picking up one of the bags. Maybe not as an EDC but just in case.

I wouldn't want to be in a firearm-free, socialist, and entitled European society if and when something like that jumps off. And yes, I've been carrying extra mags lately but not as a result of a worry of terrorist attack. At least not the international, jihadist kind anyhow.

Back in my former life, I used to help do threat assessments. I have been thinking for a very long time that the next large scale attack on US soil won't be one large singular event like 9/11.

It will be several small, but devastating attacks all across the US. NY, ATL, Chicago, LA, SF,...the big citites. Maybe a few bombs places in something like a mall, or soft target like Disney maybe? Something where the kids go? Bombs go off, followed by gun play. maybe blow up that toy store in the mall, then several guys go around just shooting people in the mall. Sure, they will be gunned down...but that isn't the point. They know they will die, buts it's about killing us.

Anyway...that's what I have been thinking for awhile....

I wonder if this ties into the I-20 thread.

By the time you can get to it, you may be better off just leaving.
I certainly would not want to be handling a rifle when the LEOs show up.
You could end up like the man in Vegas at Costco.
No offense, Moga, but this is even more of a realistic threat for somebody
    with your appearance.

Considering I somewhat predicted the plane attack on the Pentagon on 9/11, I'm thinking gruntpain1775's is pretty much what I would think would happen.

Agreed on all points MP. If its possible for me to leave the scene of a critical incident, I will every time. Discretion is the better part of valor, after all. And I don't think it matters what you look like if your caught with a long gun on the scene of an active shooter scenario without a officer's uniform, or at least a badge. Your going to be taken down hard until the authorities are adequately satisfied that you aren't a part of the attack.

Honestly, I think you may have mistaken my gist. I purposely qualified that the case wouldn't be a daily carry item just to stave off the possibility that some one may interpret my words as you have. In my paradigm, the discrete case would more have its place during travel if I suddenly have to leave my primary residence and wish not to advertise what all I have in my vehicle. As in just in case I have to make waves due to a localized act of terrorism. I didn't mean to imply that I would immediately confront the activity if it were in my possession.

Grunt, I'm sure your right. Sadly, crazed maniacs have and will continue to ambush the unsuspecting public when they decide to go postal, especially because of the nature of western society in particular, but the difference in our country is that they won't have three days to kill at will like those maggots did in Mumbai.

And sadly if we stopped the threat Simons would prosecute us for carrying illegally in their stores :p

Dang, I don't know who's actions contributed more directly to the death of 170+ people. The Chechnyans or the Spetsnaz. Geez.

Wouldn't necessarily be just "big" cities. One of these days, terrorists are going to realize the sentimental value most Americans attach to so-called "Middle America". Smaller "big" cities like Columbus, Augusta, or Gainesville...

Moga, I'm not talking about a few guys getting pissed and shooting up the local mall. Im talking a coordinated attack by several groups of people all over the country at one time. A group blowing up and shooting up a mall in LA, another doing the same to a school in denver, another doing the same to six flags Atlanta, etc...all at the same time.

How much damage do you think would occour to the economy if several cells detonated 2-3 IED's each (5-6 pipe bombs in a bag would do) at a dozen shopping malls and big box stores all over the US on Black Friday?

How many people would refuse to shop those public venues for Christmas?
Just the sheer density of people there would insure a high body count, both from the Primary bomb's but also from the Panic that would occur. How many people have been trampled at black Friday sales? Now add a few explosions to that environment and I'm willing to believe that the trampled would be in the hundreds .
