Do not go to Cracker Barrel. If there is one in your area, go open to see if they make you leave and let them know you won't be back.

Dalton man asked to leave Cracker Barrel for carrying gun
May 06, 2016, By Kate Smith, Reporter

DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

A Dalton man says he was asked to leave a Cracker Barrel restaurant when managers spotted him carrying a handgun. He says there was no sign posted stating guns are not allowed on the property. Now he wants answers about why he was asked to leave.

Shane Franks says he went to the Cracker Barrel in Dalton to purchase Mother's Day cards. He says two managers escorted him out because he was carrying a gun, a gun he believes he had every right to take with him into the building.

This revolver is what triggered managers at the Dalton Cracker Barrel to escort Shane Franks out of the building Monday. Franks says he was legally carrying the gun on his hip when management asked him to leave. “If the business does not want you to carry a firearm, they are asked to make that known,†said Franks.

Franks said there was no sign posted telling him he couldn't take the gun in until after he returned without the weapon. “When I came back there was a paper sign and place it on there and it said unless you are law enforcement you are not supposed to have a fire arm.â€

. . .

When Channel 3 visited Cracker Barrel Friday the makeshift sign was no longer in the window. A manager referred us to a corporate spokesperson, who denied our request for a statement, but a customer service representative tells Channel 3 if a gun is seen on any Cracker Barrel property the owner will be asked to return to their vehicle. Franks says he got a similar response. “It's our policy no one carries on the premise. I said, you don't have any signs.

I'll bring you snacks and visit you in jail. lmk.

be sure to wear police socks.
No he cannot wear police socks. He said he will dress down so they don't mistake him for a cop and that would throw them off for sure.

Im sure you will keep this updated.

I have a similar thing going in Va. (up here for a bit visiting) I went to a NPSexpo.com prepper thing in Richmond Va Saturday last. My letter to Richmond Intl Raceway is below. I got an email from Security Manager at RIR for my phone number so we could discuss this. I have not heard from him.

This was sent Saturday, email only, and his reply came Monday Afternoon.

Maybe this needs it own thread? You make the call. In case anyone cares. I also copied VCDL.com on this. They are very interested.

NPS Expo/RIR Security/Firearm Possession Complaint

Greetings:

I attended the NPS Expo at the Richmond Va raceway earlier today. As I do nearly always and in compliance with Virginia law, I was open carrying my sidearm. As usual for me, I had checked for any firearm limits on the state law websites as well as the NPS Expo (NPSExpo.com) and Richmond International Raceway (RIR.com) websites. I also carefully inspected the doors for signs as well as carefully looking for such on the roads and parking lots. I found nothing.

The only thing related to firearms was on RIR.com and that was they were not permitted in the grandstands at a race. This expo was certainly not in the grandstands and certainly not at a race.

As I was walking around and speaking with the vendors I was accosted by an elderly gentleman who demanded to know if my gun was loaded. He was not in any uniform or wearing anything to indicate he was anything other than another attendee at the expo. Intending to be completely cooperative I advised him that it was. I asked him who he was and why he was asking. He advised me that he was there on “Fire Watch†and the raceway did not permit loaded firearms on the premises. Due to his lack of any identification type implements or attire I was a bit uncomfortable with complying with his statements and asked for a manager or someone higher up the chain of command.

He advised that he could call his lieutenant and I requested he do so. Continuing to be as cooperative as possible I spoke with the lieutenant and he advised me that RIR did not permit loaded firearms on their property. We also discussed the things I mentioned above regarding firearms at the show.

At one point he asked if I had a concealed weapon permit and I advised him I did not need one due to it being completely openly carried. He stated he could not see it despite it being a S&W Model 5906 in a half pancake holster and not under any type of shirt or covering and in no way hidden from any type of common observation. Apparently he was not looking or just not on the right side of me to notice it.

Please advise me as to what the policy of RIR is regarding firearms being fully in compliance with state law. I will be awaiting your response.

Sincerely

They told me to leave the ammo in the car (no issue with unloaded weapon) or just leave.

Got a phone call from the security manager I emailed and he basically said the same thing. They support 2A but don't permit firearms on their private property.

I told him that seems like a complete contradiction to me and I would not be back because I don't like carrying bricks, which is what that 5906 turned into without ammo.

He was going on vacation for a week and I suggested he clean up his inbox in anticipation of when he gets back.
