There has been a lot of information floating around about the congressional would be assassin, but little in the way of official information or releases from the FBI. Below are some new bits of information made available today:

    Headline from FOX News:
"Scalise upgraded as FBI says gunman James Hodgkinson had 200 rounds of ammo in storage unit, FBI investigators say"

    Content:

"“(Hodgkinson) fired over 60 shots, 50 of those shots were from the SKS rifle,†Slater said, adding it didn’t appear that Hodgkinson had a particular target in mind and it was a spontaneous shooting."

"In addition to the ammunition, investigators found a laptop computer, a receipt for a November 2016 gun purchase and additional SKS rifle components. Hodgkinson, from Belleville, Ill., used an SKS 7.62mm caliber rifle and a 9mm handgun during the shooting at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park on June 14."

Some of what they've said seems to be complete, utter, and rather transparent BS. The assertion that he "didn’t appear that Hodgkinson had a particular target in mind" doesn't stand up to scrutiny given the list in his pocket that had Scalise at the top of the list and asking if it was Republicans or Democrats before he started shooting.

    Thanks.

"The investigation thus far determined that Hodgkinson purchased his SKS 7.62mm caliber rifle in March 2003 and 9mm handgun in November 2016 legally through federal firearms licensees. The investigation has determined that there were cartridges found to be chambered in the SKS rifle and the FBI’s Evidence Response Team found 9mm and 7.62mm shell casings on scene. The SKS rifle was modified to accept a detachable magazine and the original stock was replaced with a folding stock."

200 rounds? That isn't even a range trip.

Funny, I went to the range this morning with 2 calibers and had 300 rounds with me between them. Guess the FBI thinks more than 50 is somehow note worthy.

the disandrogenic population doesn't understand ammo. they think every one of those 200 rounds equates to the necessary randomized destruction of 200 innocent children. that's why news agencies bother to write crap like that...sensationalism based on ignorance.

    Well stated.

And yet, two million children murdered in the womb by a sharp blade or chemical doesn't faze them in the least.

The FBI did not call it an arsenal. They just released more information about things they found.

The original FBI Press Release can be found here: https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/fiel...into-the-june-14-alexandria-virginia-shooting

"Evidence collected thus far indicates Hodgkinson had been in the Alexandria area since March 2017. On the morning of Wednesday, June 14, 2017, Hodgkinson, who was living in his vehicle, which was located in the parking lot of the YMCA on East Monroe Avenue, is believed to have exited his vehicle with two weapons, a 7.62mm caliber SKS rifle and a 9mm handgun, for which he had a holster on his person. He approached the baseball fields where practice for a Congressional charity baseball game was taking place. Acting alone, Hodgkinson shot in the vicinity of the field where members of Congress and staffers were standing. Immediately adjacent to the field were two United States Capitol Police special agents who were detailed to a member of Congress and who engaged Hodgkinson. Alexandria Police Department officers responded to the scene of shots fired and also engaged Hodgkinson who, over police radio, was reported down at 7:14 a.m."

Another interesting assertion by them related to his photos on his phone. The usual tourist photos around the Mall and Capitol are there of course but then there are multiple photos of an obscure baseball field in April, but they assert that he was not planning anything at that stage.

"On April 15, Hodgkinson took multiple photographs of Eugene Simpson Stadium Park. At this point in the investigation, the FBI does not believe that these photographs represented surveillance of intended targets, however, we continue to learn more about Hodgkinson’s recent activities."

They've also asserted that this was not an assassination attempt and not an act of terrorism. Hmmm.........didn't they say he had 6 congressman's names on a piece of paper in his pocket, including the Majority Leaders? Didn't they say that he asked if it was Republicans of Democrats playing? Didn't they say that he had photos of an obscure baseball field from April in his phone? Wow, amazing work by the FBI to conclude that it was neither an assassination attempt nor an act of terrorism.

If it was not one of those, what was it? A randomly selected location for a mass shooting?

With his rather widely stated and shared political views and anti-republican viewpoints, I have to go with assassination plan.

I know the FBI didn't call it an arsenal. I was being very sarcastic in pointing out how small, minor things get overblown and sensationalized in the media.

    An Update from ABC News:

"Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., was released from the intensive care unit on Thursday, hospital officials said, over a week after the House majority whip and three others were shot at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia."

"Officials with the MedStar Washington Hospital Center and "Scalise’s continued good progress allowed him to be transferred out" of the ICU on Thursday and he "remains in fair condition as he continues an extended period of healing and rehabilitation.""

Fox news nitwit lady said twice last Friday that he was now "out of the hospital". Never a correction.
