A Columbus teenager faces attempted robbery charges as he recovers in the hospital from a gunshot wound.
[name omitted], 19, is charged with burglary, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, said Columbus Police Lt. Mark D. Starling.
The charges stem from a 9:40 a.m. Wednesday encounter on Patch Drive, where police said BG approached a 52-year-old [name omitted] as he was unloading his car.
BG is accused of pointing a gun at [intended victim] and demanding money, police said.
"Mr. F knocked the gun away from his direction and ran into his house," Starling said, "He got his own weapon."
BG followed into his home, Starling said.
"He told (name omitted) he wasn't afraid to die. He pointed his weapon at Mr. F, at which point Mr. F shot him."
Police found BG at an Eddy Drive address, and he was taken to the Medical Center and treated for a gunshot wound to the arm. Starling said the teenager would be taken to the Muscogee County Jail after his release from the hospital.
Mr. F will not be charged.
