Today. Maybe. With no "emergency."Bkite said:The majority are for less taxes...the majority is for no amnesty...the majority is for gun rights... I hope they win out...

Liberty. Tough concept. Punish those who harm others, whether by force or by fraud. Leave alone those with whom you merely disagree.Bkite said:Sooo no democracy...no rule by law...what are you advocating?

It was all in my first post. You just needed to read it.
Touching a BB gun harms nobody. It was not even a threat to harm anybody. The police admitted as much. I hope we can get back on topic now.
I do not understand your post, except that you think I failed to address something you said. I have no idea what it is. If it has something to do with a BB gun, then post it in this thread, and I will try to answer it later. If not, and it is something about the mob rule you love so much that I failed to address, then please post a new thread, and I will try to answer it later. Thanks.Bkite said:We can as my previous was my last seeing as how germane ideas are not adressed...touche(?)Malum Prohibitum said:Liberty. Tough concept. A few years ago some kids would cruise the freeway loop around a big city in Texas and shoot out the windows of nearby cars. The windows almost always completely shattered. The city was gripped with terror for several weeks. Cops caught them, it was a bb pistol of some kind.Bkite said:There are some "bb guns that project a projectile at 1200 fps....could do damage..just saying...hillba said:Those BB guns can be dangerous, just ask Ralphy he would have shot his eye out if it wasnt for his glasses
No the majority should not rule. Majorities are evil plain and simple. That is the reason we are a Republic and not a democracy.Bkite said:So majority thought should not rule?....Malum Prohibitum said:It is the way most people think, unfortunately. .
A bb gun is not a firearm.Arkimedes said:Again a situation I'm torn on... and this might be because I worked Juvenile Corrections in Florida...
The two kids charged were 17 years old. They knew it's against the law to bring any type of firearm to their school REGARDLESS of the type of firearm. They did so anyways. They got caught and now have to face the consequences.
If they were stupid enough to break the law, even if that law sucks in the eyes of many, then they don't deserve to have their butts bailed out.
So what? In my day, the girls at JHS p.e. got to shoot bows. Would you rather get shot with a target-point arrow at 140ish fps or a 1200fps bb? I vote for the bb.Bkite said:There are some "bb guns that project a projectile at 1200 fps....could do damage..just saying...hillba said:Those BB guns can be dangerous, just ask Ralphy he would have shot his eye out if it wasnt for his glasses
It doesn't matter if it is or not. Regardless, what matters is the kids acted like idiots and disregarded the law which they KNEW they would be in violation of. They knew they could get into trouble but they decided to do it anyways. I have no sympathy for that. Just my opinion and I know it doesn't mean anything, but that's my belief on this.Hock25 said:A bb gun is not a firearm.
I'd think perhaps the kid that brought the bb gun to school should get detention, at the extreme, and the others, nothing. Then again, I'm from a different era, and I expect kids to shoot bb guns. Rules or laws, a felony charge for that is silly, touchy-feely, libtardedness.Arkimedes said:It doesn't matter if it is or not. Sorry if I'm playing devils advocate here. And I even stated that the law stinks. In the end though, it's still a law. And I do know where you're coming from. I used to shoot bb guns, I play Paintball to this day, and know that kids should be kids. I also think that they should learn responsibilty alongside that. The boys in this case didn't show that though.Hock25 said:I'd think perhaps the kid that brought the bb gun to school should get detention, at the extreme, and the others, nothing. Who said no rule of law? MP is using "democracy" in the technical sense, not the "common misconception" sense.Bkite said:Sooo no democracy...no rule by law...what are you advocating?
Similar things can be said for hammers and automobiles. It doesn't make them firearms.inkdaddy said:...BB guns annually injure as many as 21,000 Americans, many of them children, according to a study in the November issue of Pediatrics.
Nonpowder guns kill an average of four Americans yearly, and from 1990 to 2000, there were 39 such deaths -- 32 of children younger than 15, the study found.
Nationally, an estimated 21,840 injuries related to nonpowder guns were treated in emergency departments in 2000 -- most in children ages 5 to 14, according to a report prepared by the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention.
