I have the opportunity to attend the powder Springs police Department Citizens Academy and I am wondering if it is worth the 3 hours a week for 10 weeks plus a 4 hour ride along?

I would appreciate input, especially from curent of former LEO's.

I went to one that was eight hours a day and lasted for 10 weeks. I've been working on the practical portion for over eight years.
OK, you are a Policeman, but what I asked for was input as to whether it would be worth it for me (a non LEO) to attend one of these things.

Any input would be appreciated.

Did you go?
I did go and I enjoyed it. The Lt in charge did not know her laws very well and stated that we would be arrested for carying into public places such as "Publix"!

Did you correct her? This is important stuff since she has a Taser and a gun and may want to use them on you or me when we are breaking no laws and simply wish for the police to leave us alone.

A good way to do it would be to send her the State v. Burns case, available here.
I did all of that and she said that she read them and understood my position, but still thought it was against the "Public Gathering" law!
We went back and forth by email as well as in person and she was unable to admit that she actually might be wrong!
