Finally found a computer and internet at the same time. Dropping in to say Hi and that I miss the good ole' USofA, especially my freedom, my guns, and like minded folks.

Further more wanted to note that communisim didn't die with the U.S.S.R. It is very much alive here in S.E. Asia. I cannot say much except we must remain vigiliant with those in our government that wish to turn us in that direction and get them out ASAP! I've seen socialism first hand from the otherside and it ain't pretty.

That is all I can say about that, except I hope to be back in 2 weeks if Ho Chi Minh's revenge doesn't take me out first. :puke: :SHTF:

Stay safe, and please make it back stateside. I'd never want to go over there to a Socialist or Communist country. I agree, we must be vigilant here so we don't turn into a Socialist Police State.

Ho Chi Minh's revenge? They won. We gave up. No need for revenge.

Cross contamination and failure to cook food to a safe temperature's revenge?

Stay safe, "fly low", and we'll welcome you back home in a bit!

Good luck there! The revenge is tricking foreigners into drinking the water, without boiling it first. Be careful, it can kill you.

    Stay safe and hurry home.
I know we got lots of problems here but at least we don't live in Vietnam.

    This.

Ice and the water used to cook rice can get you too. That is how I was duped first time around.

I don't understand why the call it HCM's revenge either. The only thing I can think of is that maybe its because he died in '69 before the north won in '75 and maybe he's a little pissed about it, even though we didn't kill him. He died an old man. Nevertheless the guy is treated like a demi-god over here. His face is all over the money. His caricature is in every political poster and publication. His portrait is in every government office. There are even towns, streets, and parks named for him.

I cant find anyone to talk politics with. Either they are all dedicated national socialists or they don't want to talk about it.

No, because of the un-sanitary "human" habits over here, that can net you something far worse called Typhoid.

Coffemate, for some unsurprising reason, your link is blocked to me. I wil have to check it when I get back. Then again, facebook is blocked on the ISP here, but I can access it just fine on my cellphone.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

We went to Mexico around 10 years ago. I know it sounds funny now (well it was funny then too)...but I carried several 2 liter bottles full of GA mountain water with me in my carry on bag. Everyone that went with us got Montezuma's revenge within the first few days. I ran out of water a couple of days before we came home. :x

Coming to a country near you. Plenty of examples of free speech being chilled over here. Before you know it, nobody will want to talk about politics.

I stuck to bottled water purchased from a store and coke when I was in Peru. It worked out for the most part :) I still got sick for one day while there and was fine the next.

Beer is what they used to use to prevent water-born illnesses in medieval Europe and the Middle East.

Whatever's in the water here in VN must be strong, because 7 years ago when I was in VN and got sick from ice, I went to Mexico a few months afterwards and drank the tap there and had no problems. I was in the nasty places too, like Reynosa, Ciudad Miguel Aleman, and Monterrey.

I have a feeling that if I survive this trip, I will return home with a healthier immune system tempered from :censored: . (and I do mean literally because everyone here does their "business" in the river and that is where the local water and food sources come from :wildeyed: )
