Just bought a new shotgun, 18" with pistol grip. Can I have it in my car loaded?

As long as it is "in an open manner and fully exposed to view" 16-11-126

    Nice V8 by the way.

Actually the more I look at it, the more I am amazed you could get your leg over that beast with your hands off the bar. 8)

Wouldn't having a GFL allow you to have it anywhere in the car?

A GFL allows a "handgun" in any location in the car. All the exceptions to open carry deal with pistols and handguns, rifle or shotgun must be open to view.

So putting a rifle in your trunk isn't legal?

The same question was asked by two people at the show today. Really needs to be difinitively addressed now and in future legislation.

I ran into an LEO at the Autry's Armory and he said that a shotgun in the trunk was not considered concealed.

Probably just his opinion, I hope he's right though. Cops "think" a lot of things about GA's guns laws, that doesn't make it so.

MP, I'm surprised you would ask... I thought the only people who wore helmets were the same ones whose wrist could only handle 9mm or less.

I had the same question as Crazy Rick, but I didn't want to look like an inquisitive idiot(not that Crazy Rick is)... Since you can buy handguns chambered for .410... why couldn't you get one chambered for 12 gauge? Which would look alot like a pistol grip only shotgun with a really short barrel... :?: It wouldn't be fun for my wrist to shoot, but it would be fairly effective. :)

You mean a flare gun? Sure, they're loaded less, but that's 12 ga. You might even be able to get a shot or two out of one before it explodes.

No... I was trying to point out that the only thing making Crazy Rick's firearm a shotgun is the length... right? If it's pistol grip only, then if you it cut down enough it would be a handgun, correct?
