i'm going to the camping & rv show at the end of this month. it will be held in a rough part of town. if they don't sell alcohol is this a public gathering? it's $10.00 per person to get in. like i said it is a rough part of town jonesboro rd. at 285 just outside of forest park but in south atlanta
No alcohol, a gaggle of people, pay to get in..... Is a movie theater a public gathering? I'd say your fine, but I am not a lawyer and only played one once on TV.
Hmm tough call. IF this is any consolation, the courts have found that the grounds of an auto auction where people gather in large numbers is a public gathering, since they are there for a specific event or function.
after i thought about it last night, they more than likely will be selling beer. they want people to get drunk so they will sign up for one of those $130,000 rv's faster than they would if they were sober. i guess i'll go unarmed wish me luck
Rember your the weapon the gun is just a tool. Keep your wits about you a decent knife and canes work well. Also check you toolbox for other acc.
I would carry discretely, myself. I cannot say with confidence that this is not a public gathering. I cannot declare with confidence that it is. People are gathered for a particular function, however, which would seem to meet the test enunciated in State v. Burns. Exercise caution.
MP, (without reading over the cited case) would a movie not meet that criteria? People are gathered for a particular function.
Instead of function, I call it event. We know that McDonalds is not a PG, and still people gather there to eat. Purchasing and eating a meal is a particular function. If you think "events" then to me at least it is easier to decide what is a regular function and what is not. A movie theater is not an event unless there is something special going on like first weekend of a big new release.
