Since gsusnake made a thread about Guitar Hero, I figured I'd make a useless game thread on the ANCIENT original Call of Duty.

When Call of Duty came out, I almost ALWAYS played as a German, considering they were the underdog in weapon selection (either way, I used a Kar98k the majority of the time) - their MP40s and MP44s were severely outclassed by American and Russian weapons (Thompson? DEAD. PPsh? DEAD.) If you decided you wanted to get in a blasted out window and try to snipe with the MP44 (didn't do a TERRIBLE job), some noob with a Mosin-Nagant or a Springfield sniper rifle would get you - pretty easily, too.

Anyway, I absolutely loved this game, until I lost my CDs (don't know where they went). The favorite thing to do is shoot at people 150+ meters and drop em - or run around behind some guy camping in a window and bashing his head in with the stock of the weapon. It was fun times.

Well, /end random rambling about a game. :p

DC for 1942 was probably the best one
Also Point of Existence 2, one of the best mods out for BF2 right now

So I assume you have vista...
No, until nothing supports XP, I'll happily stick with DX9. Just all the woes and complaints about DX10, and the comparisons of the two really don't show me that the price to upgrade to a new API is worth the investment at this point. Plus I don't like the fact that I have to have 500Mb of RAM to run an OS (WTF). Also OpenGl 2.0 is coming out soon, and a lot of developers are looking to make good games with it, (ie. Quake: Enemy Territory).

Also there are a lot of open source groups that are currently trying to get DX10 on XP right now anyways, and they are making some good progress, so I'll hold off.

Was it Call of Duty (or one of the now many follow-ups) that recreated some of the actual events of Easy Company in WWII (as seen in Band of Brothers for those that watch TV too much)? I was watching the series on memorial day I think and I recognized some of those scenes from a game I had played.

I've played so many war games that they start to blur together.

Doom almost got me fired many a day.
Command and Conquer almost made me fail college.
