Seems many of the rural northern counties follow a more 'shall issue' mentality. All of CA is not wacky libs.

All of those numbers look like negative numbers - as in those are the number apps received, but the number of permits denied.

This is no news to me, I currently live in Los Angeles County. Like it has been said above, rural counties are more conservative and CCW's are easy to obtain there. With the higher populated counties like where I live, Sheriff Lee Baca (Sheriff Xenu) creates the policy. Basically if you aren't a campaign contributor, personal friend, or haven't received a documented death threat, you WILL NOT receive a CCW. There has been some stink about his documented death threat policy because people that have received them have not received a CCW, for reasons I have no idea. If I lived 12 miles north of where I currently live, I would have a CCW no problem.

It is great that you are still "able" to receive a CCW in California in comparison to Illinois or Wisconsin, but depending on the law enforcement agency that patrols your local turf, it can vary from easy to impossible.

California sucks on too many levels for firearm rights.

Dan - I'm a refugee from Kalifornistan myself. Born and raised there since 1957, left in 1996 and never looked back. You need to move to a free state, you won't regret it.

I'm comforted by Kern county... which is where I'd probably live if I ever have to take a job out there.

If California were to split into two states, the norther half would become Republican all of most likely. Which would not be such a bad thing, just would never happen is all.

I have heard that before. The north has all the water that the big cities in the south has to have.

I think GS1 is talking about the Owens River Valley, which is on the eastern side of the Sierras. Water for SoCal courtesy of Mulholland.

If you're talking about splitting the state at some point, say 60 miles north of the Bay Area, then you might have a liberal south and conservative north. However, the Bay Area, north through wine country, perhaps excluding a single county (Contra Costa), is a bastion of liberalism, and it comes with all the trimmings at no extra charge.

Yes, I was saying that a split would never happen, the liberals in SoCal would never let go of their control of their water supply from northern California.

GA has a water shortage we have to deal with not only Georgia politicians, but with Tennessee, Florida, and the Army Corp of Engineers.

Most of Californias water is in the northern part of the state. Right now SoCal has control of the northern water supply. If the state split, they would have to negotiate for that water with another state.

Born there in 60, joined the AF in 79, and only been back a couple of times since. After that fiasco with the Marines at Oakland airport, I'll never step foot in that state again.

    Bored, MP?

Lived all over California. Interesting to note that one former county of residence has issued CCW to 1 in every 79 citizens. The only city in that county has issued to 1 in every 98. :righton:

The opposite end of that spectrum is 1 in every 155346.

Places are about a two and a half hour drive from one another.
