Saw this on another site, thought you guys might be interested.

I wonder what the status of legal open carry without a license would be?

All;

It has come to our attention that there may be some confusion relating to our stance on CCW permits and the right to carry. I am enclosing a copy of the sign as it is worded at the front of our store relating to firearms on our premises.

ATTENTION

ALL FIREARMS &BOWS THAT ARE BROUGHT IN FOR
REPAIR; SERVICE OR TRADE, MUST BE OPENED &
CHECKED IN AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK.

THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO CONCEAL/CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS.

As responsible gun owners you can understand the need to have a firearm that is being brought in to be repaired or sold checked for safety to insure that it is unloaded. This does not apply to anyone possessing a CCW permit. Cabela’s has supported gun owners and hunters for over 45 years and continues to do so.

From the volume of email that we have received it appears that there may be a post on a website stating that we do not allow this. I would respectfully ask anyone who has knowledge of this to please clear up the confusion surrounding this issue.

Thanks for your time and concern,

Mike Boldrick

In GA, you can OC anywhere you can conceal, correct? So, I believe it would be legal. Cabela's is a larger chain, correct? So, they could be speaking in the general sense for other states that don't allow OC.

I think this is addressing a sign at the front of the shop that says something about checking guns before taking them into the store. Bass Pro has the same sign at the front of their store. The sign does not differentiate between CCW and purchased, repair or return guns. It just says that guns must be checked in at the front of the store before entering.

Every experience I've had with Bass Pro while OCing, they just wanted to see my GFL.

Not a problem with me.

"THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO CONCEAL/CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS."

I read this as does not apply to conceal and or carry permit holders. OC should be ok.
