    What is the legal definition in GA of brandishing a firearm?

    There isn't one. There's no mention of "brandish" or brandishing" in the entire state code.

    "Assault" means to do something that puts another person in fear that they're about to receive a violent injury.

    An assault is "aggravated" if it involves the use of a "deadly weapon." All firearms are deadly weapons.

    Are you "using" a gun to instill fear in somebody if you make a verbal threat against them while lifting your shirt to show them that you're packing? Maybe. If a jury says "yes" and convicts you, the Court of Appeals won't second-guess them.
