So an old classmate of mine tracked me down. I found the following on his online blog. It's a bit dated, but it really scares me that people who vote feel this way:
Don't feel too bad. It's evident from his continued misuse of "your" where he clearly means to use "you're" and other common third-grade level grammar mistakes that he is, in fact, a moron. That, and his total disregard for his basic guaranteed freedoms under the Constitution.
So the law is bad because it is used by someone inappropriately? Those who misuse the trust placed in them should be severely punished, but that doesn't mean the law is bad. In five years, this is the only case I have heard of of the Patriot Act being misused and during the debate on reauthorization, the Dems in Congress, who have a much larger research budget than I do, were unable to find specific instances of misuse.
That's what bothers me the most. And this guy tried to become a police officer for years. "What is this 4th amendment you speak of sir? You are under arrest." I think one of his favorite bands is Rammstein.
Because a gag order is issued, even when the PatAct is applied improperly. Blow the whistle and go to jail.
