A question to you folks interested in buying, selling, and trading used cars :

What's a 1993 Ford ranger pick up truck worth, if it has some body damage that doesn't affect its drivability ?

The sheet metal is crumpled and there's a little bit of rust where the paint is creased and peeled, but the frame is straight. The alignment is still good --it doesn't wear the tires unevenly.

It starts fine, runs strong, doesn't smoke, gets decent mileage.

It's a 2WD pickup.

Unknown miles-- I'll have to ask. It's not my vehicle. For the purposes of this question let's assume around 175,000. In other words it was hardly used much per year, but the years have added up.

I'm speaking of the Atlanta area market. Some 5 million people live within 50 miles of this vehicle.

Any driving truck you can usually get 1500-2k out of them...assuming the ranger is ok mechanically I'd put the value at 2k without seeing it assuming working ac

Which panels are damaged also matters...
A fender is less serious than the bed, the bed is less serious than the cab, doors make you question the cab, bumpers are attached to the frame so any real deformation is a big deal.

Auto or stick? 4cyl or V6?

In 2006 I sold my 1996 Ranger (4cyl stick, 150k miles) in great shape for $2500. In 2008 I bought a similar GMC Sonoma (75k miles) for $4000. In 2011 we sold my Dad's 2006 V6 ranger (low miles, great shape) for $6500 (iirc) to a friend of the family. All metro atlanta sales.

FWIW, KBB says $1000 fair condition to $1600 excellent condition. That assumed 4 cyl stick with std cab and std bed.

Sounds like a $1000 (at best) truck to me.

Just for the record I would be highly interested if price is right.
