We may have a rogue one here: Security tightened at Atlanta Fair in response to gun violence last year
Apparently a checkpoint is "nothing new" however the landowner is listed as The City of Atlanta and Fulton County Recreation Authority:

There are a lot of parcels there, but a spot check of a bunch of them all show the same owner. Very doubtful they have an "estate for years."

Lots of restrictions on bags and purses that can be carried. Firearms are not on the prohibited list, though.

PROHIBITED ITEMS


  • Purses or clutch bags larger than 4.5" x 6.5
  • Backpacks
  • Binocular cases
  • Camera Cases
  • Cinch/Drawstring Bags
  • Fanny Packs
  • Tinted or printed pattern plastic bags
  • Oversize Tote Bags
  • Mesh Bags
  • Briefcases
  • Luggage of any kind
  • Computer Bags

Basically they just prohibited purses... Weird.

All the fairs are doing it now. Ladies, carry your gun, but it must be in a clear plastic bag.

We carried to the fair with no issues, and, guess what? They were not even enforcing the clear bag rule that we could tell (this was the big fair in Perry).
