I was just interested to see if there were any fellow Braves fans in this forum. My grandparents got me interested in baseball when I was really young... and I am a big Braves fan. They, of course, make me mad a lot... but I still love 'em!

Oh, and in case you fellas think that I like baseball for the guys... you're wrong. I actually enjoy the SPORT itself! LOL!!

So... is there anybody else out there that follows the Braves on a regular basis??

And, I do like football. I just don't like it quite as much as baseball. Honestly, any sport that I can understand the basic concept of... I usually like!

Although I go to the game to watch the game... I don't do the whole over-the-top outfit with outrageous heels. (And the whole female, "How long is this gonna take?" aspect.) Don't get me wrong... I love the heels... I'm a shoe-freak!!! But... a game is not the time for that. I roll my eyes every stinkin' time I see girls all dolled up for a Braves game.

So how 'bout them picking up Mark Texeira, Octavio Dotel, and Royce Ring?

Big Tex was a helluva move, Dotel will give a little more depth in the 'pen... don't know much about Ring, except that he was assigned to Richmond.

The Rangers are really cutting payroll... they traded Gagne to the BoSox and Tex to the Braves.

No doubt Salty will be a force in the league. Kid's got an awesome bat and is one helluva catcher as well as an adequate 1st baseman. But, we've already got McCann and that $27 million is already spent.

I gotta say this, I don't recall EVER seeing such a talented, young group of ballplayers on any one team at one time. I'm excited about the next few years.

David Justice.

I met him and got an autograph when I was 10 and it made a lasting impression.

Close runners-up include Glavine, Maddux, A.Jones, Chipper, Gant, Klesko, and Franco.

Always liked Dave, too! Still have all his cards from the time he was with us.

BTW, meeting a star athlete can make a big impression on a young person. I met Frank Thomas when I was 15 and have been a huge fan ever since. Glad to see him break 500, he deserves to be in the Hall.

McGriff, SMOLTZ, Franco (I drove up to see his return debut last week!!!), McCann, Javy, Giles, Gant, Pendleton...

I know there are more... but my brain isn't recalling some of the older ones.

I met Javy several years ago. I guess meeting a big athlete like that isn't quite the same for a girl. I mean, it was a fun experience... but nothing life-changing. I still remember several teenage girls drooling over him. They kept saying they would never wash their hands again because they had *gasp* touched him!!! Puleeze!!!

Although I went to that Baseball 101 thing for women a couple of weeks ago. And I really enjoyed it!!! I got to meet Woodward, Paronto, Yates, Diaz, and James. The player to player interaction is so fun to watch. Kim Hudson, Julie James, and Yates' wife were also there.

I'll definitely be attending again next year!!!

I use to be. I use to go the Braves games back in the early 70's when the only excitement you went to see was hammerin Hank hit a home run and I saw him hit many a one. You could sit anywhere in the stadium you wanted to. Some of the players that I remember were Orlando Cepada, Ron Jarvis, Phil Niekro, Steve Barber, Milt Pappas, Tommy Aaron and Clete Boyer just to name a few.

I want to stay on topic here so I will just say that I wish todays games were like the days of long ago.

The players I mentioned were from the 1970 Braves roster I believe. Those guys back then played the game for the love of the game.
