Is anyone in the Athens area interested in getting in on an order split for the Speer Gold Dots on the other thread?

I am halving a case with Bulldawg182 already but if anyone in my area wants to get in on a split I might be interested. It would just be easier, logistically, if we could get a local split. By the time we drive all over to pick up ammo or ship it around the state, the cost savings will be almost lost. (Bulldawg182, I will not stick you with the 500 I already agreed to take. Don't worry about that.)

I posted this as a new thread so it would stand out to the Athens area folks.

Legacy38? Woody_the_Infidel? GlockGirl? Anyone? Anyone?

since I never read any posts anymore what is the cost per 50 rounds. BF and I shoot 9 so I may get some
The deal is $215 for 1,000. This includes shipping and taxes. You have to purchase 1,000 rounds to get the price so several folks are banding together to place an order. The reality is, most of us don't need 1,000 rounds of "good" ammo on hand. However, at this price you can hardly pass it up.

I figured it out like this;

I have been paying $40 for 250 rounds of 115 gr cheap FMJ target ammo plus $3 tax for a total of $43 or 17 cents per round.

This deal would work out to 22 cents per round. IMO still cheap enough to shoot at targets, and still have plenty on hand for daily carry.

I don't know how these will be packaged - in 250 round boxes or standard 50 round boxes, etc. If anyone knows, please share this info.

I'll jump in for 100 rounds if someone will hold them and bring them to the quarterly shoot...

I have not decided if I will place an additional order outside of what I am splitting with Bulldawg182.

I am pretty much an outsider here as I don't travel outside the Athens area unless I absolutely have to - I hate Atlanta. My wife bugs the crap out of me to come to Atlanta to shop, see shows, concerts, etc. I resist if at all possible. I got dragged to Discover Mills & HiFi last weekend and was hating every minute of it.

If I do place an additional order, I was hoping to be lazy about it and just meet folks here in Athens to pass it out. I figure that by the time we start spending gas money and a ton of time driving all over to drop-off and pick-up ammo the savings are not nearly what they would be otherwise.

That would work for me too. Only problem is I have no idea when I will get to come up for a game. I only get to a couple a year and that is only by the generousity of my father-in-law giving me his tickets if he can't go for some reason...

I'd be happy to help get them to you. ZXD9, if you're going to be up at Cherokee for the September IPSC I could pick them up and bring them back.

USMC, as I'm a Tech grad, I see no reason why you should subject yourself to a Dawgs game just for some ammo... :D I'm going to make plans to be there (the October shoot), but I'll get it down to you one way or another if I don't make it.

Thanks Cavediver!
Sure thing. I just realized that the match is on September 8th, so it'll have to be a pretty quick turnaround.

BTW, I'd be in for 100-200 rounds if that will help seal the deal.

***Edit***
DOH! Volgrad just posted about the ammo not being available until the 8th.

I'll still try to help get it to you if possible.

Cavediver,

I live in Athens so I can pick them up when they come in. Thanks for the offer. If nothing "important" comes up I'll see you at Cherokee.

Especially if it's the Georgia Tech vs UGA game.....that is almost always excruciatingly painful for tech grads!!! :Nunchaku:

Agreed.
Want to know what's really painful? When we're watching the game and the UGA grad in the house is living it up.
Of course, as soon as we pay him for the pizza he has to go back to work...

Careful or your shirt pocket pencil holder might slip and give ya a little poke! Maybe all that Varsity grease is finding it's way to your wishful thinking parts. Besides, without engineers, who'd build all the big projects owned guy UGA grads? :rotfl2:

Unfortunately no time for fun. We were meeting a couple for dinner at the Thai place before a concert. That mall was one place I really felt naked being unarmed.
