Interesting read... Although I must say, I'm not surprised. Most who believe do so because that's how they were raised. Most who don't, found the answer by education and fact checking.

    Thanks for the link

I agree. It takes a certain amount of...drive, researching, and education...to break free of the lies some people are told their whole lives by people they love and trust. :x
When I finally made up my mind, I just felt cheated and betrayed among other things. Oh well. I'm just happy I realized it at all. Now I can look up at the night sky with REAL amazement.

You know why beer is better than Jesus?

Nobody forces beer on minors who can't think for themselves.

/confirmed atheist with a pretty damn good understanding of religion

I love a good religious debate as much as anyone, but it's getting boring by this point.

I can also prove, without a doubt, that I HAVE a beer.

Ha I love thread pics like those. Not seen that one before. But I call your bluff on enjoying these discussions. I think you may enjoy discussions in regards to how great god is and what not, but this was a completely different topic with a SUPPORTIVE media article written on it. It's not like I came left field with a thought to start the convo again..

I did find it fascinating how the different news outlets reported the story. You can tell who's happy about it and who is not.

[/quote:2mxmxd3f]WTF ever happened to real journalism? Leave it to them to Google every news media site and steal stories, re-write them a little and then post it. Plagiarism all the way. :p

No big surprise there. The largest form of recruitment for Atheism/Agnosticism is studying one's religion. That's how I got here too :)

No one will try to kill you because you drink a different kind of beer than they do.

Cool! I found the Atheist/Agnostic Mutual Masturbation Society.
    I wanna join.

Gosh fellas, we are so much smarter than all those ignorant religious types that believe in a big fairy tale. Maybe we should say some stuff in a way to show how much smarter we are than they ever could be.

I find it very sad that instead of just allowing people to believe whatever it is they want to believe, that some people on here feel the need to demean or insult others because they don't believe the same as you do. I'm surprised at some of the people who do this. Of course some of the people here that do it don't surprise me at all...

Wow! A not-so-subtly directed at me comment!

If it bothers you that bad, don't read the thread. :righton:
