What's the reason the "Archives / News-- No Comments Allowed" forum exists?
It says that it is for: "news about self defense and other important news. No comments allowed."

But aren't most self-defense incidents reported nearly all the time in other forums, like Georgia news, or national news?

And WHY would it be a good idea to prevent anybody from commenting on a news story about someone using a gun in self-defense? Usually such news stories have incomplete information at first, and as more details become available people post them. And each incident of self-defense is a possible teaching opportunity, but only if we think about it, and sometimes it's easier to brainstorm together and discuss it rather than try to analyze it alone, silently.

Manufacturing consent? Stifling opposition?

It was supposed to be a place for putting news and such that needed to be remembered for whatever reason and not get buried under other postings as it would under the other topics.

I did not allow comments because it was just supposed to be about the news article itself.
