Well my weapons license expired in August and I didnt notice so had to go thru whole thing again today. When getting fingerprinted there is a sign that says you will receive your permit in 90 days...

    Are they not even trying?

Mine comes up in May so 90 days is soon. I saw that there's some kind of online application, did you use that process? Does anyone know what that one does?

You fill the form out on a computer now in the office. So maybe you can do that same form online.

Not that one should trust DeKalb to do anything right, but I renewed mine in late 2017 and it was issued and mailed within all statutory time limits. It's not technically illegal for them to lie about the time it takes to issue a permit as long as they don't actually exceed the real time limit.

FWIW I had the same situation (Dekalb, let the license expire while I was out of the USA, had to reapply) and I got the license much more quickly than they said (maybe a month or so?)

    That was spring of 2018.

    So there's hope!

That's just pathetic. I bet she issues marriage licenses in a timely fashion.

It seems that the online form is only for a new application, not a renewal.

Do you know if there is a time limit imposed on the issuance of a marriage license like there is on a GWCL?

In Cobb County you can walk in apply for the Marriage License, take it across the hall to the Sheriffs Office, take the elevator on your right to the 4th floor and get married. I forgot the time of day the weddings are done but it can be that quick if you time it right.

If you take someone with you who is authorized to marry you, you could avoid the trip to the sheriff's office (what is that for, anyway?) and the elevator ride and be married before you leave the probate judge's office.

The elevator located in the sheriffs office takes you up to the Magistrate Court where they hold the weddings after regular court hours. The Magistrate Court in Cobb County is a 24/7 operation. As far as I know it's the only elevator that goes to the Magistrate Court. The only other way I know of to get there is the stairs. The weddings are not done in the Probate Court.
