After two more public massacres in the last few days (El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH), this thread is once again relevant.

Should we rethink our daily carry guns in light of these recent events? Who among us could put rounds into a rifle-armed goblin at your local shopping mall, school, church, library, etc? You might first see the bad guy from a pretty long distance away, more than 25 yards. Maybe out to 50 or 75 yards.
Under stress???? But I have shot my EDC at 100 yards using a blank 9'' paper plate as a target.

Well, you've got a really sweet big-bore EDC pistol !
Heck, even our friend who was new to handgun shootings, having only used .22 rifles and skeet-range shotguns before, did very well at ringing the gong at 20 yards with your gun.

A year ago, I switched from an XDM in .45, 10 to 13 round capacity, to a M&P 9 2.0 compact. 15 round mag, and I always carry an extra mag, 30 rounds with me every day. And I can shoot the gun well enough, from 3 to 25 yards. Hornady Critical Duty 135 grain +P.

Three spare mags always, whether carrying my .357 Sig converted Glock, my CZ 9mm, or my double-stack .45.

It helps balance out the weight of my gun so I don't walk sideways.

Wife has shield 9mm, her choice after severely breaking her wrist and a titanium insert. But after current events she has asked me to get her a Walther PPQ mod2 9mm. We borrowed a friends PPQ and she loved it.

I personally have 2 EDC.
Sig p229R with custom trigger and plus 2 mag extension for 15 rounds of 40S&W. ( 14 rounds each mag).
Beretta 92FS with 18 rounds per mag x2.

varying yardage for varying situations, 5 to 100.

As for body armor, it don't stop the hurt. besides, who makes metal face plates anyway?

Ran about 100 rds through the 10mm today. RIA Rock Ultra FS HC , 17+1, fully supported chamber for full strength ammo. It is a bit bulky, so a cover garment is needed.

At .44c per for range ammo, an .66c for carry ammo... I'm gonna have to start reloading for it..

Did you hit the target any?

My EDC is primarily a 5906 with a spare mag. I figure if I need to bother with the second mag I dayum well better have air support inbound.

Sticking with my H-K P7M8, simply because I can hit what I'm aiming at with it. I generally have 17 rounds of Winchester 127-grain +P+ on board (one in chamber, one 8-round magazine in the gun, and one spare magazine). I've grown somewhat lax about daily carry lately since I live in Ellijay, not generally a hotbed of social unrest or high criminal activity . . . but I've been reminded lately that mentally deranged killers respect no boundaries. It's become part of my daily wardrobe again.

I've been carrying a S&W M&P 2.0 40 Compact since the first of the year. I believe it to be a good combination of size & capacity. With the 13 round compact magazine in the gun & it topped off I have 14 rounds in the pistol & a full sized 15 round magazine on my belt. I also have a Kahr CM9 but I prefer the compact as larger pistols are easier to shoot well for me.

In light of recent events I've opted for more 9mm and a longer barrel over fewer .45acp in a short battle. I have switched to my Glock 17 or HK VP9 and a spare mag over my Kimber Ultra CDPII compact 1911.
