Tony and bugman - Probaby is not a good idea to have your birthdate on a public web site - just in case.

Since you made your point, you can, if you want, hit the edit button in the upper right hand corner of your post and just put x's over a couple/few of the digits so that it is not recorded there for all time.

I am technologically illiterate, but, as you can see, I managed it. Now, remembering how I managed it is a different story . . .

I would suggest posting this question down at the bottom in Website suggestions, where people are thinking about this kind of thing.

I do know you need to go into your profile. Is the avatar you want on your own computer or elsewhere?

I saved mine onto my own computer and then used the editor to keep shrinking it down until it was small enough. You need to make sure that you shrunk it small enough in both directions!

OK, you shrunk it down to 1/2 inch, but how many pixels? That is what matters, if that is the problem. I had to shrink mine down 4-5 times, until I got it right.

Yes, if you have your pic's resolution at 250 pixels per inch, a half inch is still 125 pixels, 25 more than the limit.

Some scanners and cameras do 600-1200 DPI (Dots Per Inch is the same as pixels per inch)
