His mind and heart are in the right place, but I just shake my head whenever I hear someone call it a concealed carry license in GA. Especially a cop. Kudos to him on his encouragement, though.

Hey, don't pick on him. He used language that the average non-2A citizen will understand. Add to that the fact that his department offers a FREE 3 day weapons training class for non-department citizens every month AND opens their range to the public every 3rd Saturday for $5 (including targets!) and he's the kind of Chief we should be supporting.

Application for the class is here:

The Mayor also asked the citizens to get a permit and get training also considering asking the council change city eeployee ban on carrying in city vehicles and buildings.

Unlike with "magazine" and "clip", where there is no functional difference, the term "concealed permit" helps perpetuate the notions that it's for concealed only, only concealed is legal, or open carry is legal w/o license, and so on. Therefore, in this area of discussion, I'd greatly prefer that people think about being accurate and precise.

Either which way, it's hard to imagine this attitude appearing in the news only a few years ago. It's great to see.
