A bill (HB 600) was recently introduced into the AL House to require that guns be registered with Dep. of Public Safety. Here is an excerpt:

"6 Section 2. (a)(1) Any person who possesses an

7 automatic or semi-automatic weapon shall register the weapon

8 with the Department of Public Safety pursuant to the

9 procedures established by the department. The registration

10 shall contain a description of the weapon that identifies it

11 uniquely, including all identification marks, the full name,

12 address, date of birth, and thumbprint of the owner, and any

13 other information that the department may deem appropriate.

14 The department may charge a fee for registration of up to

15 fifty dollars ($50).

16 (2) The department shall maintain the information

17 received from each registrant in an automatic or

18 semi-automatic weapon registry and information contained in

19 the registry shall be released only to law enforcement

20 officers.

21 (b)(1) Failure to register an automatic or

22 semi-automatic weapon is a Class A misdemeanor."

Call or write your Alabama Representative. Let's raise a stink.

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of misdemeanors in Alabama... :shakehead:
That is the clearest usurpation of the Second Amendment I have ever seen.

But I don't think it will even get out of committee.
The person who wrote this has about as much knowledge of guns as did the jokers who wrote the assault weapons ban bill.

A punp action 12 gauge is considerably more dangerous than my Ruger semi-auto .22 pistol. That person has been watching way too much TV news presented by people who also don't know their asses from their elbows when it comes to guns. How many news reports have you seen where the reporter breathlessly states, "The killer used a semi-automatic weapon!"?

I used to believe it was a toss-up whether an Education degree or a Sports Management degree was the easiest to earn.

I was wrong.

Now, I'm absolutely positive the easiest college degree to obtain is one in Journalism!

Sometimes, I really hate stupidity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
