Airsoft for squirrels recommendation?

I like squirrels.

I'd hate to blind one in one eye with a hit from an AirSoft gun.

A clean kill from a .177 pellet gun would be so much better, and the pneumatic (up to 10 pumps) kind are pretty quiet, but nowhere near as quiet as spring powered AirSoft.

Now if you can scare the squirrel off without maiming it, that would be good.

What was your question again? Which model AirSoft gun to use?

I don't know the make and model, but GCO had some 1911-style Airsoft pistols at the convention last summer. They were dead-on accurate at the short distance --15 feet?-- we had for the zombie targets. I've used that kind before in the back yard, and I find that the accuracy is good to about 20 feet, and after that a good % of the pellets curve significantly.

Rack the slide, shoot. Rack the slide, shoot. Repeat up to 15X or whatever the magazine holds. Some airsoft pistols use staggered-column mags and hold a lot in a normal-length magazine.
