Once again, retail employees show their ineptitude with the law. (Or maybe I'm just crazy)

Here's some quotes at the gun counter in Macon.

"That's a 'firearms license'. Thats not the same thing as a 'Carry' license."
"The firearms license just lets you buy a gun without a background check, you have to have the carry license to carry a gun."

"You can carry a gun into walmart with a carry license, but only open, never concealed."
"Applies only to handguns, not rifles." (<---i guess thats right)

All these statements really had me interested so I asked, "Where can i find more info?"
I about burst out laughing when i heard his answer.
"We get all our info from COPS"

:)

ps, the new licenses do apparently say "Carry license" on them, or the dude buying the gun had made one up in his basement.

lol, you can't really blame them though. one would think a LEO of all people would be up to speed on current gun laws. plus, most of the "guys" that work at the academy here in Augusta don't even look old enough to have a GWL to start with...

indeed, saw a new one last friday. says "GEORGIA WEAPONS CARRY LICENSE" both front and back. the back is in big, black, bold letters and it's the only thing printed on the back..................

Why would they know more about gun laws than any other laws? Should they all be experts on every law on the books or something?

If it's the guys selling the firearms, then they should get themselves up to speed on the laws regarding firearms.

One of the guys at the firearms counter in the Macon store used to work for me. He's an idiot.

If you're too dumb to unload trucks and do distribution center work (and he was) then the only place to send you is retail...

and no, I won't share his name. All of them up there are about the same anyway.
