i've got a challenge: post something that you can do, that you can buy, a place you can go...anything, where you believe the government currently has absolutely no say in the matter.

    let's make a list:

that is impossible if you drive the government paved the road, if you buy it the government taxed it (some way of another), even reading this now the government taxed your ISP.

Property taxes. Once a year you have to purchase "permission" to use the place.

EPA. Apparently it's a sunny day only because you paid them to keep it that way.

It also appears that we're soon going to have to get an license and inspection for our homes before
we can sell it. Got to save the environment, you know.

This, of course, will morph into a YEARLY license quickly enough. Gov't. loves money.

To get back to the original topic, there's a difference between having a "say in the matter" and having "their hand in your pocket". So let's ignore taxes for the moment.

I could pitch a tent and camp out in my backyard. Not everyone can, legally, so I guess you're looking for something any law-abiding citizen can do without running into a law/rule/regulation that prohibits it, right?

    I'm at a loss.

It's not so bad now at home with the doors and blinds closed.

However, the EPA may soon regulate CO2 as a pollutant and restrict our breathing hours.

I'm going to have to go ahead and sort of... disagree... with you on that one...

Even as a property "owner", you must obtain permission to use the property -- for napping, camping in the backyard, whatever -- from the gov't. If you don't properly obtain/maintain said permission, you are denied the use of your "property" and will have it taken away from you.

I call that "having a say in the matter".
