A Hummer-driving police impostor who pulled over a woman Monday in Acworth has been busted after he tried his shtick at a nightclub in Savannah, police said.

Stephen Benjamin Agati was being held Wednesday night at the Savannah Chatham County Jail without bond.

Authorities said Agati, 46, of Tucker, tried to pass himself off as a police officer at a club early Wednesday morning. He also pulled out a weapon, officials said.

He was charged with impersonating an officer along with other weapons-related charges.

Acworth police had been looking for a police impersonator after a woman was pulled over on Cobb Parkway at Lake Acworth Drive just after midnight Monday by a man driving a red H2 Hummer with flashing blue and green lights on the dashboard.

The woman told police that when the man approached her car, he had a cane and a handgun. Realizing he was not a police officer, the woman drove to a nearby convenience store and called police, said Acworth police Capt. Wayne Dennard.

After they arrested Agati in Savannah on Wednesday, police found he had a red Hummer, a cane and blue lights, Dennard said. Police also found counterfeit police credentials in his possession, he said.

I think guys like this are going to make it really difficult on true LEOs. :x

The more this becomes common place, the less people will trust anyone who looks like a cop.

Which means more folks like grandma getting charges for not stopping right away, instead driving to a well-lit public area like the LEOs instruct you to do if you are uncertain.

I thought Macktee had a Denali, not a Hummer. :?:
Macktee has a Mercury Mountaineer! A fine Ford product...!!!

The controls for the blue lights behind the grill and the wig-way headlamps are in the glove box, safely out of sight of curious onlookers...

I can see this being a real pain for gun totin' folks like us! I see a choice stop immediately and risk a gunfight with a possible imposter, or drive to a well lit place, or call 911 to verify that the car is following you is the real thing (there by clogging up 911 even worse), and finally pulling over just to get a pissed off LEO whose is irritated at you and then askes if you are armed... :?
