I love 300, and bought the movie the day it came out.

If you want a more historically accurate story of the battle of Thermopylae, check out Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield. It's an excellent book.

Great movie.

We as Americans owe a debt of gratitude to the Greeks, they are part of the reason that we are what we are; from western culture, Christianity, and thoughts about how a gov't should be.

While I am currently reading a history book called Thermopylae, and this is one of my favorite historical incidents, and the Molon Labe expression is one of my favorite anecdotes, I thought the movie was, at best, mildly entertaining. I watched it last night. It appears really geared for "short attention span theater."

It was like watching a video game.

I give it a C+ . . .

"TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!" :p

The food isn't so hot there, but the Rum is excellent !! I went to Hell a few years ago. I wanted to get my daughter a t-shirt that says "Someone who loves me went all the way to Hell and back to get me this shirt.", but my wife said no. I did dend a bunch of friends postcards that were postmarked from Hell, Grand Cayman. If you ever make it there, the Tortuga Rum tour is well worth it, especially the free samples.

While most of you have probably alread read it, but I highly recommend "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield.

They were actually beginning to film this version at the same time as 300, but something in production fell through.

300 was entertaining, Gerard Butler was absolutly perfect in the role of Leonidis, however I thought the CGI was a little over the top.

Still, "300" has been added to my quarterly watch list!

I used to live down the road apiece from Hell Michigan...in case you can't make it to Grand Cayman you could always go there. It's near Brighton, North West of Detroit.

What you described was all part of the point. The movie was based off of a graphic novel (aka a comic book).
