Two kids, 6 years old and a teacher. One kid in serious condition the other in stable condition, both life flighted from the scene. The teacher grazed by a bullet. Teenage suspect in custody and investigators are looking into a death in the area they believe to be connected to the suspect.

Local news has more details. The dead man is the 14 year old's father, and the shooting happened on the playground. He never got inside the school. Handgun. http://www.wyff4.com/news/possible-shooting-reported-at-elementary-school-police-say/41866672
Oh my Gosh this freaked me out, my girlfriend is an elementary school teacher in SC and is banned from carrying at her school.
No details about how:

"Jamie Brock, 30-year veteran volunteer firefighter who responded to the school after the shooting, took down the suspect on the playground, Smith said."
Another gun free zone
Can we take up a collection for a bigger sign?
7 minutes for a cop to show up. anyone know anyone with a split time of 7 minutes?
But we all know that it's not necessary to lock up guns around kids.
Teenagers are responsible enough to have their own firearms and ammo, kept in their bedrooms or otherwise unsecured, right?
Everybody says "other people's sons may be trouble, but I know my boy would never do something bad with a gun."
And we can all keep saying it.
Because, once again, it was somebody else's son that went nuts with a gun.

Every now and then, a teenager uses a gun in self-defense to fight off a home invader.

But even more often, a teenager uses a gun for suicide or unlawful homicide, robbery, or aggravated assault.

Looks like (reading between the lines, here) the kid was out of ammo. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/townville-shooting-first-picture-hero-8937690

All of the descriptions are very vague, and the seven minute interval for a response time indicates the ammunition was probably all spent. It sounds like he spent most of it shooting in the air.

We'll perhaps see as more details come out, but since the media has already portrayed this volunteer fireman as charging headfirst against an armed opponent, like charging a German machine gun bunker, they are very unlikely to now provide us with details that would undermine that narrative.

Its called parenting. Every child is different and YOU have to know your child. At 14 mine did not have access to firearms. Not because I thought she couldn't handle it, but because she didn't need it. She wouldn't stay home alone at that age. So the subject never came up. Once she started staying home alone it became an issue. At 17 I trust her more than some adults I know.
Split time?
your split time is how long it takes between shots.
Most details yet as to how Jamie Brock encountered the shooter, but somehow still lacking pertinent details.

Apparently the little boy that died had family connections to my mother's side. Some kind of a distant cousin.
Unless it's in my control my guns stay unloaded locked up and away from the ammunition.

 Didn't know he died until I saw your post just now.
Yeah, I lost track of the story until now. I'm saddened to hear this news.
Townville Elem. School shooter sentenced to life in prison without parole

Townville Elementary School shooter Jason Osborne was sentenced to life in prison without parole Thursday afternoon.

Osborne also received 30 years on the attempted murder charges.
It looks like the kid's home life wasn't very nurturing.
Tommy Osborne is also the father of Jeffrey Osborne, who was fatally shot by Jesse Osborne in 2016. He told the courtroom that his son raised chickens on their property and said he was a great father when he was not drinking.

The defense asked numerous questions about what Tommy Osborne knew about the alleged abuse inside the Osborne household prior to the 2016 shooting.
"You felt that you needed to carry a pistol for protection? Your own son who lives on your property?" Rame Campbell, an attorney on the defense team, said.

"Yes," Tommy Osborne replied.
