Has anyone seen this? Seems to do a lot of things none of the 5.56 alternatives like 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC can do.

Yeah, it seems to be the best cartridge to make a standard-dimension AR-15 (not the larger AR-10 frame ) good as a 1000 yard match rifle, or possibly a long-range predator / prarie dog/ varmint gun.

Personally, I don't think an AR-15 is the best platform for 1000 yard shooting.

I'll keep it to the .223 round for that rifle, and with a 1:8 or 1:7 twist barrel and heavy loads, it does fine at 600 yards. Probably even 700 or 800, but I've only shot them out to 600 yards.

If I want to go to 1000 yards, it won't be with a .224 bullet weighing under 100 grains. I'd like at least a 120 grain bullet in 6mm, 130 in 6.5mm, 140 in 7mm, etc. And I would want the muzzle velocity to start over 3000 fps.

Yeah, this caliber would be awesome for hiking, hunting and camping in the Great Plains. It gives you flexibility past 1300 yards without the AR10 bulk and weight.
