Since I don't live in this district, I don't have a dog in this fight. However, if I understand the rules right for this election, if no one received 50%+1 of the vote, the top two vote getters go to a run-off (regardless of party affiliation) with as many republicans in the field compared to democrats it is entirely possible the top 2 vote getters could very well be democrats. I think some of the republicans in the field that don't have a shot at getting elected need to think about that.

I saw this morning in the MDJ that Ossoff has a very *slight* lead in the race followed by Karen Handel....I am afraid that all the *extra* Republicans are going to force this into a runoff. If you live in this district...I IMPLORE you to get out and vote on this race.

The leader by a razor's edge in a new poll is Democrat newcomer Jon Ossoff, non-resident of the Sixth District and darling of national Democrats. He just got the resounding endorsement of Georgia members of MoveOn.org PAC, which praised his commitment to protecting Obamacare, not exactly popular in this district.

The group's news release said: "MoveOn will be mobilizing its more than 15,000 members in Georgia's 6th District to volunteer and vote for Ossoff and will be mobilizing progressives across the country to support the campaign through thousands of grassroots donations." Ossoff has a huge war chest - about $2 million, according to reports - thanks to the all-out effort by Democrats and liberal groups like MoveOn.
In a poll last week by Atlanta-based Trafalgar Group, Ossoff had 18.31 percent of the vote for a virtual tie with the leading Republican, former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel who had 17.98 percent. Next was Republican Bob Gray, member of the Johns Creek City Council and a technology executive, polling 13.42 percent, followed by Republican state Sen. Judson Hill with 7.98 percent. Other candidates were far back in the poll.

Also note that Ossoff it one of the DemoRATS new "golden boys", doesn't live in the district, has a very large war chest and has the endorsement of Roy Barnes.

Ossoff has been spending a LOT of money on TV ads. None of which identify which party he is affiliated with. Once it is known he is a Democrat, I think his popularity may diminish.

I doubt it. I think there are a lot of closeted demoRATS out there in district 6 (there are now about 10 signs for him in my neighborhood...which is in one of the most affluent areas of Georgia) who are seriously pissed about Trump. If the Republicans sit on their hands and do nothing (as the demoRATS did in November) the he could very likely win this.

And it bears repeating that he's gotten the "go ahead" from moveon.org...so the money will keep flowing into his campaign.

So what did he do - rent an apartment? What are the residency requirements to qualify anyway?

After he goes through all his "accomplishments" he ends with: "and I'll hold Trump accountable." Kind of a giveaway there but in the "Era of Trump" maybe not so much so.

Can't stand his ads.

http://patch.com/georgia/sandysprings/pride-fund-end-gun-violence-endorses-jon-ossoff

Pride Fund To End Gun Violence PAC has endorsed Jon Ossoff, the Democratic candidate in the race to succeed tom Price.
Pride Fund To End Gun Violence formed following the Pulse nightclub shooting that killed 49 patrons in Orlando, Florida.
In response to the violence, Pride Fund is working to elect candidates who sill not only support LGBTQ rights, but also take action to implement "sensible gun reforms," said Founder and Executive Director Jason Lindsay.

And now he is polling at 40%...distancing himself from every other candidate in the field. I am seeing more and more of his signs popping up in affluent East Snobb county and I fear that the 6th might indeed "flip". :|
Extremely unlikely. Special elections favor Republicans and despite the poll numbers and the millions of dollars the national Democrats are pouring into the district, Ossoff (or any other candidate) has a vanishingly small chance of getting to 50%+1 on the first ballot. Things will look very different in the runoff between Ossoff and the top Republican.

That said, if you live in CD6, please vote on April 18th. I have to be officially neutral among the Republicans in the race, but I know most of them personally and frankly they would all be good choices. If you have family, friends, or colleagues in the district, please remind them to vote as well. (Even if they're Democrats, try to get them out to vote for one of the other D candidates.)

Currently it looks like a race between Karen Handel and Bob Gray for the top Republican slot, but that could change. If you have a preference between them, vote for your favorite. If not, vote for anyone who's not Ossoff, and you'll still be helping to keep another gun-grabbing weenie out of Congress

No doubt there will be a runoff...but as complacent as voters are, I don't think that it's going to be an easy ride for any GOP candidate to win the 6th, run off or not. Many of the DemoRATS are *pissed* Trump won and this election is the first opportunity folks have to vent their frustration. Let's not forget that Hitlary got quite a few votes from east Snobb and N. Fulton County, which is the heart of the 6th district. As for me...I sent my absentee ballot in last week.

As others have said, listen to ossoff's ads. He's deliberately not fessing up to being a democrat. He tries to sound like a republican on issues like terrorism. And he claims he wants to "fix" obamacare (admission by the democrats that it sucks?)

I am surprised by some of the people in my neighborhood that have his signs up in their yard. Again, no indication of being a democrat, except the signs are blue.

So yes, please come out and support a Republican candidate. Hopefully one that would have voted against the obamacare lite garbage put up by republican "leadership". But if republicans don't turn out, or get fooled into thinking ossoff is anything other than a rubber stamp for nancy pelosi, they could lose this district.

I live in far east cobb. I was seeing the limp wrist's signs up everywhere a few weeks ago. Not so much any more.

It appears many were put up in subdivision "common" areas and wooded areas of private land that wouldn't be noticed by the owners.

Well, many have been noticed & removed.

I didn't think some of my neighbors had suddenly lost their minds. :crossfinger:

Still many up, and more by the day. Now seeing them on Roswell Rd between Old Canton and the loop, and they weren't there over the weekend. I think I have seen a total of 2 Karen Handal signs, though...

Also all the mailers from him (about every other day) does highlight he's a DemoRAT.

I haven't found one single "best" candidate from my research, the only one I really have any experience with is Dan Moody as he was my state senator for a couple of years before retiring from that.
