He says he supports it but it's "NOT' something on his radar. I doubt he really supports it at all.
Yeah, that is a good obuma/hiLIARy answer.

I read that last reply as "Yes I want to support 2A rights but I have no idea how". He doesn't know the NFA from the GCA. He couldn't tell you why silencers have a $200 tax stamp and a de-facto nine month waiting period. He couldn't list the prohibitions that make a person prohibited from firearms ownership. He literally doesn't know. But he professes a philosophy that is not hostile and a willingness to listen. Sounds like an opportunity to educate someone at the beginning of their political career. So while I agree that he what we would consider a "real supporter", he could grow into one given the right coaching.
Buy him lunch and try to nail him down more on specifics. Or get a better feel of his general views. Or educate him with both the desired result and supporting reasons.

I am not quite sure how to interpret his statement. Note questions bolded below. Note-- not my district.

Just received the following reply from Alice Turner, Kurt Wilson's communications director. As promised, I am posting it verbatim.

-------

******

What are your thoughts on the "Heller" decision and how Congress can impact that decision.

I support the Heller decision and any initiatives that support strict interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

Strict interpretation of 2A or Strict Scrutiny of limitations on it?

Georgia is a "shall issue" state. Should all states be "shall issue", "may issue", or continue with the mix we have now? Why?

I believe these decisions should be made by the states, and according to the 2nd amendment.

Let things stand as they are based on the states interpretations. The Constitution applies differently among the various states.

What is your position on gun-free zones? What specific areas should or should not be off limits to licensed carry permit holders? I am particularly interested in your answers and thoughts regarding government buildings, public parks, college campuses, and public transportation.

I believe citizens should have the right to carry guns, as indicated in the constitution.

Again, nothing specific, all pretty much politispeak around the question.

What is your position on national carry permit reciprocity?

This type of program gives the federal government too much access to gun holders. I support all citizens enjoying the freedoms granted by the 2nd Amendment.

Freedoms granted by 2A? Or inherent and just noted in the 2A? Again, way to generalized for me to give this guy much credibility on these answers. And freedoms granted(?) by 2A?.

What is your position on "Constitutional Carry"? By this I mean all persons not prohibited to own a firearm may carry that firearm without a license from the state.

Again, I believe citizens should enjoy the right to bear arms as spelled out in the 2nd Amendment. I believe the 2nd Amendment gives citizens that right to carry outright.

This one is a bit more specific but still seems to be a bit weasel.

What is your position on the "Hearing Protection Act" and other NFA reform measures?

I am in favor of less taxes. So tax rebates on silencers is favorable to me.

I read that as he does not have much idea what you are talking about and diverts to taxes.

What do you see as the proper role of the BATFE and other Federal agencies regarding the Second Amendment?

Federal agencies mean a larger bureaucracy, where decisions are made by individuals who aren't elected by citizens and yield too much power. So, it would be best for federal agencies to yield less influence as it relates to citizen gun rights.

Again, weaseling around and about the issue. Diverting to big govt that does too much and needs reduced.

Is there anything else you wish to tell me and our members regarding your position on the Second Amendment and gun rights in general?

I am a constitutionalist, and believe in the strict interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

Again, interpretation or scrutiny or limits on what it applies to and how it applies.

Lets hope its not a large democrat turnout. But still you know there will be demo voters casting multiple votes in an attempt to vote their Assoff.

Verbatim fact check: Did Karen Handel reduce the Georgia secretary of state's budget by 20 percent?

April 13, 2017, By Verbatim staff

Karen Handel is one of 11 Republicans running in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District special election. A fundraising flyer from the Value in Electing Women political action committee (VIEWPAC) claimed that as Georgia’s secretary of state, “Karen reduced the department’s budget by nearly 20% by prioritizing programs, streamlining processes and eliminating waste and duplication.â€[1]
Is the VIEWPAC claim accurate? Did Handel reduce the secretary of state’s budget by nearly 20 percent?

. . .
