Hi everyone, I moved to GA a couple months ago from Nevada. I have a couple questions I hope you all might be able to answer for me:

Is the GA WCL the same as a CCW here? I'm aware open carry is also not allowed without one as I read it. Are there CCW course hour requirements to obtain a WCL?

Are there any open air ranges (that dont require memberships) or something like BLM land anyone can reccomend north of Atlanta?

About 90 minutes NW of Atlanta (or about an hour from Acworth) is this place:

Legally, the GWCL simply allows one to carry, and doesn't make a distinction between openly or concealed. In most cases, you can carry openly anywhere that you can carry concealed, except for college campuses, and Corps of Engineer land (pretty much all major lakes in GA), where you cannot carry at all without a permission letter from them, and then it must be concealed. That might change (either for the better, or worse) next month. If there are any other places that legally require that carry be concealed, I forgot, and hopefully someone will chime in about that.

Also, a GWCL is not required on your own property, in your vehicle, or at your place of business.
