• Georgia GOP Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to announce next week his decision to appoint businesswoman Kelly Loeffler as the state's next U.S. senator, according to sources who spoke with the AJC.
 • A source familiar with the governor's deliberations also told the Daily Caller News Foundation that he is expected to make the decision official sometime next week.
 • Some conservative activists argue Loeffler is not a good pick, but Kemp and his allies believe she will help the GOP ticket in the upcoming election cycle.
Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to appoint financial executive Kelly Loeffler to the U.S. Senate, replacing ailing GOP Sen. Johnny Isakson.

Kemp is expected to announce Loeffler sometime next week, according to several senior GOP officials who spoke with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A source familiar with Kemp's deliberations also told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the governor is expected to announce his decision in the coming days.

I don't like putting millionaires who grew up in the anti-gun, Big-Brother bootlicking North, and who have little or no ties to Georgia, in high political office from Georgia!

Did she or her gazillionaire husband buy an appointment from Kemp?

This is an attempt by Kemp to demonstrate he is his own man, and not a Trump puppet, by appointing his own pick, not one demanded by Trump and his supporters. And, the thinking may go, if he appoints a woman, that will maybe bring back women voters who've been anti GOP lately. I'm not so sure this thinking is going to work, ie, women will just vote for a woman millionaire just like that, and the candidate he picked sounds much less than desirable to GOP voters, who are pretty much Trump voters. This 3D chess by Kemp has a good chance of backfiring on him.

Bwahahahahahaha. The tribalism is palpable in this thread.

"Kemp's director of communications, Candice Broce, fired back at Gaetz directly, calling him 'oddly submissive to #TheSwamp,' and said the appointment was Kemp's to make independently. Kemp's adviser and former campaign communications director, Ryan Mahoney, wrote: 'mind your own business. We don't know you and we don't care what you think.'"

So much wrong about that.

"The Swamp" isn't President Trump or his supporters, Candice Broce, so please pay attention to how you use labels.

And as far as Ryan Mahoney - you don't know U.S. Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz???

Just wow. the ignorance and hubris slapped together like a slime and mud sandwich.

Insider Advantage https://insideradvantage.com/2019/12/03/learning-about-loeffler-a-gop-split/

"One criticism from Loeffler critics, especially on social media, is that she has donated to some Democrats and has done business with some Democrats- especially in her role as an executive with the Sandy Springs-based Intercontinental Exchange (which owns the New York Stock Market) and as co-owner of the WNBA Atlanta Dream team.

But InsiderAdvantage checked the reliable website opensecrets.org to view 10-years' worth of her many substantial financial donations to a wide range of Republicans. In just 2019, for example, she wrote huge checks to the Republican National Committee that is coordinating with the Trump campaign for the president's re-election. Loeffler also has recently contributed to various female GOP candidates around the country, including Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York, a fierce advocate for the president on the House Judiciary Committee.

Readers can log on to the website and see for themselves.

And this may be a legitimate reason to support her. People are shallow and stupid. Especially the "moderate" pop-culture low-information suburban voters that we all hope will vote GOP, even though they're not ideologically committed conservatives.

Shallow and stupid Americans want to vote for good-looking people. Sexy people. People that looks good and sound good on TV. People that they can envision as their own spouse, lover, mistress, whatever.

Kelly is a beautiful woman, and she'll have a lot of people voting for her JUST FOR THAT REASON, even if it's at a subconscious level.

This tells me alot. $75K donated to Repub Nat Committee in about a month this year with $101K a year ago. With many small donations in the interim.

Giving money like this indicates she is A-- hard core repub supporter or B-- trying to buy a position.

If Georgia voters had wanted an anti-gun Democrat to replace Senator Johnny Isakson in the U.S. Senate, they could have elected Stacey Abrams to Georgia's governorship.

They didn't.

But the Republican who defeated her for governor, Brian Kemp, has ignored the pleas of President Donald Trump ... ignored the expectations of Georgia Republicans ... and ignored the desires of gun owners, in order to propose a Left-wing anti-gun Democrat to replace the departing Johnny Isakson for one year -- until next November's special election to permanently fill that seat.

His choice -- women's basketball team co-owner Kelly Loeffler -- has apparently only one qualification: She's rich.

She's used that wealth to promote the careers of these ultra-liberal anti-gun Senate Democrats: Tom Harkin ($2,000); Chris Dodd ($2,000), and Debbie Stabenow ($2,000).

And Loeffler is apparently being chosen over Rep. Doug Collins, who has been a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.

You only have a short window of opportunity.

Please call the governor's office and ask him not to appoint an anti-gun crypto-Democrat to fill the remainder of Johnny Isakson's term.

In liberty,

Great question. I was thinking that myself.

Sean Hannity talked about this on his Radio show tonight. He was shocked that governor Brian Kemp would go against the obvious will of conservatives in Georgia for a real pro-life conservative for the Senate.

Congressman Doug Collins was interviewed on the show, but he didn't have any substantive comment about what he thinks of Kelly Leffler . He said he doesn't know her well, or her positions. He just said that he knows "he" is a solid pro-life conservative.

Hannity said that Kelly donates a lot of money to RINO Republicans like John McCain and Mitt Romney, but didn't donate anything to the Trump campaign until just recently --probably when her name came up as a potential pick for U.S. Senate.
