      May you have an easy fast.

      Where do you go to shul? I live on the north side of Atlanta and haven't attended shul regularly in 20+ years. A friend recently inspired me to reconnect with my faith an I want my son (7) to join me as I do so. I'm "shul shopping" in result and looking for input.

      I took off 60 pounds in just under 4 months and kept it off for 3+ years, now. Doing cardio and lifting weights will definitely help. I do at least 30 minutes of cardio nearly every day and lift about every other day, but I do between 60-75% of my max. I do more reps, less weight.

      The biggest change was diet. I know this might sound counter-intuitive, but I switched to a low carb, high fat diet. That is really the mechanism that allows the workouts to burn off your fat. Your body processes carbs for fuel, first and then starts using fat stores. So, if you maintain a low daily carb count, you basically burn through those right away, then use the fat as fuel. Eating fat is not what makes us fat. Carbs are the villain here. Carbs are converted to glucose and extra glucose get stored as fat.

      Definitely worth looking into. There's tons of literature out there.
