Welcome

I have been the Georgia Administrator on Packing.org for several years. It is a great place to quickly look up concealed carry law information for Georgia and any other state. For people to be able to quickly find what they needed I had to keep things short and to the point. With the laws in Georgia that gets difficult sometimes. I created this site to hold the information that did not fit in over there.

Packing.org is currently off-line and I have been given no information on when or if it will be fixed, until it ever is fixed I suggest using Handgunlaw.us.

Here on GeorgiaPacking.org you can find:

I hope you find what you need and if you have any suggestions on how I can make this site better you can email me by clicking on the GeorgiaPacking.org link found at the bottom of every page.

If you liked the site and found it helpful, spread the word about the site by taking a few flyers to the gun store/shooting range on your next visit.(flyer requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view)

Thank you,

Matt Knighten

Oppose Sullivan Confirmation to BATFE

12/19/07

Since the BATFE and Sullivan (the acting Director) will not do as Congress instructs by failing to obey the law and not creating written firearm testing guidlines as they have repeatedly been asked to do. It is up to our U.S. Senators to put a hold on his confirmation until the BATFE starts doing as they are told. Please view this Forum topic to find out more intformation on Sullivan, the BATFE and links to contact your Georgia Senators.

Notice for Renewal Applicants

12/19/07

If you have less than 90 days before your license expires you should get a temporary renewal license (which is valid for 90 days and costs $1) if you request one at the time you apply for a renewal. This is because of the extra time the renewal is going to take since the change of law July 1st, 2006. Some counties are refusing to issue a temporary permit for different reasons, and all of them are incorrect.

For more information on what counties are known to not issue and tips on how to rebut their claims that they can't issue, read the License Renewal Guide.

Notice for New AND Renewal Applicants

5/2/07

As part of an ongoing court case, you are no longer forced to give your SSN or Employment info on a Firearms license application.

The applications have been updated, but many courts are still using the old applications and/or still requiring the applicant’s Social Security Number and Employment Information. For those Georgia residents who will soon apply for your first or renewal permit, print out the decision and carry it with you to the probate court. For more information read SSN – Privacy Law and Firearms License Applications topic in the forum.
