They would not accept credit card or debit card. They wanted $45 cash (exact change) so I paid cash, but I'm sure they would accept a check or money order. The $45 covered the court fee, GBI fee, and finger printing fee, yet was all taken by the court supposedly to be dispersed accordingly. The clerk illegally asked for SSN and Employer info which I provided since I didn't know it was illegal at the time. She said it would take 6 months for the GFL to be issued and I politely told her that the law says 60 days is the max and she said "no, it's 6 months". I held my tongue at the time with the intent of paying a visit on the 60th day with the law in hand printed out and highlighted.

The Sherrif's Dept (across the street) used ink for fingerprinting, and I had to stand in line with convicts to get fingerprinted while the arrested checked out my wife. I kept the reciept, so that I could prove they took longer than 60 days since I planned on filing suit after that time period.

70 days later (because I was busy and forgot the big file suit day) I called the GBI to make sure that the fingerprints had been sent back and they had been(exactly 50 days after they received them).

Then I called the probate court and asked the status of my application and they put me on hold, when they picked up again it was the Judge speaking to me and he told me that he had signed it that morning and that it would get to me in a couple of days. He told me that I was lucky to be getting it back so soon, and that it usually takes 6 months, to which I said "really, the law says it has to be issued within 60 days" and he said he knows that the law says that, but he has to wait for the background checks to come back from the FBI and GBI. I let him know that the law says that it doesn't have to come back, but that they have 50 days to report any reason not to issue to him, he said he knew that to, but that he would commit a federal crime if he accidentally issued to someone that wasn 't eligible. I told him that the flip side to that is that he could get sued by a GFL applicant that was victim to a violent crime while waiting for their License to be issued after 60 days. He said he had never thought about that but that it is very unlikely situation, then he said that he has to go through that same process everytime he renews his GFL (which made me feel better knowing that he doesn't think that guns kill people by themselves, but maybe he is lying). He said his dad already fussed at him about how long the process took when he applied, and that he knows and that he wishes he could change it. I should've mentioned digital fingerprinting, but I forget things when I'm stressed.

Friendly but uninformed know-it-all clerk. The Judge was the most helpful person I spoke to. The clerk DID ask for SSN and employer info. I'll write the Judge a letter and send an updated form so that they will stop that.
