Closed from 12:00 to 1:00 Take Hwy 400 North to 53 West and travel approximately 7 miles to downtown Dawsonville. Take Shoal Creek Road, located just before old Courthouse. Fill out the application at the courthouse.
Take a $24.00 Money order to the jail for GBI.
Electronic fingerprinting at the jail $5.00 Cash, Check or Money Order.
Pick up permit at courthouse for $15.00 Money Order when you call them around the 60 day mark. Court clerk and Deputies were very nice. I don't know why the hold up but it appears to be common. ------------Reported on 8/22/2007------------- Go to the Probate court office and apply there. They entered the application info in the computer and printed it up. They will take your $24.00 money order and then send you next door to the jail to get finger printed. They lady at the front desk of the jail mentioned that we needed $5.00, but they did not ask for or charge the fee. Finger prints are electronic scan.
The GBI fee is $24.00 money order only. I suggest getting a postal money order. Finger print fee is $5.00 and have exactly $5.00 because the front desk lady mentioned they cannot make change. (they didn't charge the fee this time)
The probate court office lady said to bring $15.00 cash or money order when picking up the license once they call to say it is ready.
The website mentions bring a SASE when applying, but the probate court lady said it was not needed since they call you and have you pick up the license.
