Awesome staff at both places. Sweet older ladies are great at the court house. Leave everything and I mean everything, change, belt, shoes..lol when you go to the Sheriff's Office to be finger printed. I almosr had to get undressed in order to go through metal detectors. Justwish my permit would come. Wish it was a way for them to cross reference the finger print databases. All my prints are on file with the state and GCIC for the line of work I'm in.

In and out of the Probate Court in less than 20 minutes, $72.25 paid in cash. Drove down to the Sheriffs Department to get finger-printed and waited for almost an hour because there were several people ahead of me getting printed.

Comments:

The ladies at the Probate Court were all very friendly. I was told to wait 5 to 6 weeks so I am very happy with 3 and a half. Applied on 26 April, approved on 17 May, received 23 May.

The don't accept $50.00 bills.

Comments:

8/17/2011 I applied at the Probate Judge's office with a $50 dollar bill. The clerk would not accept the $50 bill so I hobbled next door at the tag office to get the $50 changed but they would not do it. Against the rules to make change for anyone. I found a nice lady that agreed to break the $50 for me. Went back to the clerk's office and filled out the forms. 15 min later I was on my way to the Sheriff's Office to get finger printed by the Livescan fingerprinting machine. Also an ink copy was made. The clerk said I should have my license within 2 weeks. 9/16/2011 Got letter from Dunham McAllister, clerk of Probate Court saying the Livescan fingerprinting machine could not read my prints and I must return to the Sheriff's office and do it again. I did. Livescan and Ink and I got a copy of the Ink prints. February 13, 2012, still no permit. Need to be fingerprinted again.

Comments:

applied 04 Jan 2011 to renew CCW expiring 21 Mar 2011, As if 23 Jan 2012 still have not received CCW. Appears sheriff office could not take fingerprints correctly and they got two tries. Staff very friendly. Homeland Security/FBI can not seem to do a by name check. I had held a CCW license since 1974.

Went in and told them my wife and I wanted to get our firearms kicense. Had to wait about 10 minutes. My wife had her GA DL and I had my military ID and a copy of my orders. Took about 45 minutes with the clerk to fill out the paperwork for both of us. Then went to the Sheriff's Dept for fingerprinting. They used the new electronic machine so they could see the quality of the print before capturing it. Did not require any fee at SO'soffice.

Comments:

Very friendly folks at both places. Very accomadating for my wife in her wheelchair.
