Thanks for the welcome. Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling we're stuck with the language? I have little faith the Senate will do anything to improve the bill, if anything I can see them making it worse. Even if/when a conference committee is appointed, I somehow get the feeling the language will still remain. That said, I'll keep the pressure on. Maybe there's still a push to have this language fixed before it gets a sent to the Governor...

Call Your Representative Tonight or Early Tomorrow: Tell them to vote NO on HB 875

Dear Friends,

The Georgia House of Representatives will vote TOMORROW on the new gun bill, HB 875. As we understand it, this bill will allow weapons to be brought into places of worship, schools, bars, and some government buildings. The bill also reduces the penalties for carrying a gun on college campuses from a criminal penalty to a misdemeanor with a $100 fine and changes the rules for bringing guns into airports.

You can read the entire bill at http://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/...0132014/HB/875.

Make your opinion known on this legislation that dramatically changes the current law in Georgia on carrying guns in public places. Telephone calls are the most effective way to make your opinion known, but emails are also effective.

Your representative, Speaker of the House David Ralston, and Governor Nathan Deal need to hear from you TODAY. You can also contact any representative in the House with your opinion.

Locate your Georgia Representative at www.votesmart.org

Governor Nathan Deal:

Please forward this email to anyone who cares about this legislation.

Wrote my Rep yesterday and got this reply this morning...

Thank you for writing. I will be voting in favor of HB875 when it is presented to the House today.

Best regards,

Only 2 bills on the calendar today: http://www.house.ga.gov/clerk/HouseC...-2-18-2014.pdf

If they're limiting to 2 hours, the debate is probably going to be opposition rants ignored by a large majority.

Please remember even if Rep. Glanton is forced by his party to vote against the bill on the floor, he helped get the bill out of committee. Of course, if he (and other Democrats) are able to vote for the bill on the floor, it is a sure sign that the tide is turning.

SlowRain,

I got the exact same reply. I don't really care if it is a cloned response as long as we have her vote.

We don't know if they can fix it or if we'll have to try to fix it next year. The important thing to remember is that this bill would make the law much clearer about 90% of "government buildings" even if the courthouses language stays. In the past, alcohol and non-sterile sections of airports were both multi-year fights where we got a portion of what we wanted and then found new allies for the next round.

Yes. The Rules calendar controls which bills may heard on the floor for a given day. The calendar you posted is the list of bills that the Rules committee could choose to include on the Rules calendar.

Default email i recieved today

Dear Mark,

There is likely to be a gun vote at the Captol today!

Two weeks ago, your overwhelming grassroots pressure forced Republican State Rep. Rick Jasperse to admit he made a "mistake" in his gun bill, HB 875; he changed "mental health" language you requested be changed to protect the rights of Georgians.

Make no mistake, your calls and emails forced his hand on this issue. And your continued grassroots activism is needed to make sure ONLY pro-gun policy becomes law in 2014.

Today, it's likely HB 875 will see a full floor vote in the House.

While there are a number of positive advancements in HB 875 that you've been calling for [and we would like the bill to pass clean], Georgia Gun Owners is working right now with a number of legislators to add at least one more "pro-gun" amendment to the bill.

We're also making sure legislators know that "poison pill" amendments designed to kill legislation could be coming from the Governor's gang now or in the coming weeks, and that they should push back and not be intimidated into supporting anti-gun amendments or legislation.

Sources at the Capitol continue telling us that the Governor and Lt. Governor are becoming increasingly frustrated by the massive number of calls and emails GGO members and supporters are getting into the Capitol.

So please don't step off the gas now.

Please click on the link below to contact your State Representative RIGHT NOW!

Tell your State Representative you expect support of only pro-gun legislation and fierce opposition to any "poison pill" anti-gun amendments.
